Wise ready to lead FIJI Water Flying Fijians
FIJI Water Flying Fijians captain Waisea Nayacalevu is ready to lead the national team in the June Test Series, pre-warm-up matches and the Rugby World Cup in France later in the year.
Nayacalevu’s first task for the year will be on Saturday when he will lead his side in the Punjas Pacific Series Battle against Tonga at Churchill Park, Lautoka.
The 33-year-old- robust center thanked the FIJI Water Flying Fijians Coaches and the players for believing in him. He believes the role is a huge one but he will be able to manage it with the help of other senior players in the team.
Nayacalevu said “I’m so grateful to Simon and the management team for giving me an opportunity to lead the team this weekend.
It’s an honor for me to lead the young Drua players. It’s a good mixture of team with young and the experienced players and we are looking forward to the big game on Saturday.”
FIJI Water Flying Fijians Head Coach Simon Raiwalui said Nayacalevu has been displaying true leadership quality on and off the field and has played an instrumental part for the past two weeks in camp.
“I have known Wise for a long time.
We have worked together in France and I have known him since he was a young man who has grown into a leader. It was an easy selection as he carries himself with integrity on and off the field and is a world class player.
The FIJI Water Flying Fijians take on Tonga in the Punjas Pacific Battle at 3.05pm on Saturday in Lautoka.
You can purchase the tickets at Fiji Rugby Union in Suva or at Lautoka City Council.
