Wilagi sets target ahead of NRC.
Tira Wilagi is one of the 14 Swire Shipping Fiji Warriors players who were drafted into the Pacific Combine team and is looking forward to snatching a golden ticket for an overseas contract.
Wilagi’s dynamic style of rugby was evident during the World Rugby Pacific Cup where he featured strongly for the Warriors.
Exceptional power runs an imposing physical presence that penetrated defensive lines plus some stunning capability around the field amazed not only the crowd but the World Rugby scouts as well.
Comparisons have been made for the dynamic winger to Semi Radradra with how he combines power run with high intensity and it will be up to the young man to show his perserverence and realise exactly what potential lies in those talents.
Humble as expected Wilagi knows making it to the Pacific Combine squad is a great opportunity and experience for him but its also a challenge as he will need to step up to contest other talented players in the squad.
“I never thought I would make it to the combine squad at the end of WRPC, but I guess all my hard work and determination towards the tournament is what brought me to this team.”
Wilagi has been in the FRU Pathway Program since 2016 where he also played for the National Under-20 in 2016 and 2017 where they won the Oceania Rugby Under-20 Trophy.
He was also nominated for the 2016 Fiji Rugby Union Under-20 player of the year award.
Wilagi further added that he is not stopping here as he’ll be looking to fight his way through to try and make the Fiji Airways Fijian Drua squad ahead of NRC this year.
