“We are gelling in well” Swire Shipping Fijian Warriors locks Chris Minimbi
Swire Shipping Fijian Warriors utility forward Chris Minimbi believes his side will put up a strong performance in the World Rugby Pacific Challenge which kicks off next Friday at ANZ Stadium.
Minimbi came through the High Performance Unit’s Elite Player Pathway program and represented the Vodafone Fijian Under-20 team to the Junior World Championship in Argentina last year.
The lanky forward said “The preparation has been really good.
“We have been having a few days camp and this is the first full week camp.”
He added “A lot of us are in the academy and have played together before.
We are gelling well and it’s a great environment.”
“It’s a huge step-up for a lot of the players and it is about our attitude and how we carry ourselves on the field” Minimbi said.
The Fijian Warriors are expecting a tough battle from Tonga A, Samoa A and Junior Japan.
“10 out of 10 for all across the board.
“We know they are exciting teams especially Tonga and Samoa as they bring their own form of Pacific flair.”
“Japan is a very technical team and will come strong in this tournament” he added.
The WRPC kicks off next Friday as Junior Japan will open the campaign against Tonga A at 2.30pm after which Fijian Warriors plays Samoa A at 5pm.
All matches will be held at ANZ Stadium in Suva.
