Wardens men and Mt Masada reign supreme in Sigatoka.
It was a mouthwatering battle between Wardens and Police Blue in the Fun Flavour Super 7s Series Leg-1 final at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
The match kicked off on a high note under the heavy conditions at Lawaqa Park. Both teams approached each other with better good plans and were more physical in the breakdowns.
Despite a few simple errors due to heavy rain, both teams were tight in defense and players had very little room to move.
Waisea Nacuqu’s converted try under the post was the only difference between the two sides at the breather.
Wardens gained confidence in the second spell and captain Josua Vakurinabili dived over for their first try. The lady luck turned and Wardens ran in their second try minutes later to seal the match 10-7.
Vakurinabili said “I thank the players for displaying such a great performance against a strong Police side. We had confidence and knew that if we do everything right on the field the final is going to be ours.”
Wardens take the lead on the Fun Flavour Super 7s Series table with 22 points followed by Police at second place with 19 points and Army in third with 17 points.
Meanwhile, Mt Masada was crowned the women’s champion beating Police 21-nil.
The Fun Flavour Super 7s Series Leg 2 will be held at the Prince Charles Park from the 17th to the 19th of this month.
