Waqaniburotu focuses on one match at a time
Fiji Airways Flying Fijians captain Dominiko Waqaniburotu is looking forward to the journey towards Rugby World Cup 2019 as the national team now prepares for the Pacific Series Test versus Maori All Blacks, Pacific Nations Cup and then the Rugby World Cup in Japan.
The 33-year-old said there is a need to set the tone and platform from the first week and work towards achieving greater results this year.
“Just like any other team we are focused and ready to represent Fiji at the Rugby World Cup. Our focus for now is the first match against Maori All Blacks next weekend.”
Waqaniburotu was given the captaincy role by Coach John McKee during the autumn tour test matches where the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians defeated France 21-14 in November last year.
He said the squad is packed with a lot of talent and the players have come into camp with the right mind set.
“We need to build on a few things as we prepare ourselves for the match against the Maori All Blacks,” Waqaniburotu said.
“The coaches have mapped out the plans for us and we surely want to put up a great show against the Maori All Blacks in two weeks-time,” Waqaniburotu added.
An exciting programme has been set-up for the Fiji Airways Flying Fijians who heard to Sigatoka tomorrow for a 3-day camp.
“It’s exciting time ahead as we look forward to the training camp in Sigatoka.
“We are glad to be back home, have enjoyed a short time with our families and friends before we marched into camp yesterday” Waqaniburotu said.
The Flying Fijians begin its campaign Saturday week against the Maori All Blacks at the ANZ Stadium in Suva before the return match in Rotorua, New Zealand on the 20th of this month.
