Volivoli to make his debut in Vancouver
Police winger Suliano Volivoli will make his debut for the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s at the Vancouver tournament tomorrow.
Head Coach Gareth Baber has made two changes, including Volivoli and Apenisa Cakaubalavu in his 12-men squad.
Terio Tamani joined the squad earlier this week and will be the 13th man.
Baber said “Volivoli has been knocking on the door for long and this is his opportunity to shine.”
He added despite speedster Aminiasi Tuimaba and Livai Ikanikoda missing out, the team has a great depth.
“We will definitely miss their services but there are players who can rise up and perform on the given day” he said.
Baber added they have taken out a lot of learning from the match against South Africa last weekend and will ensure it is not repeated again.
“We were rather unfortunate in the final but we have left that behind and the team is now focused on the job ahead” he said.
Fiji is pooled with France, Wales and Canada at the Vancouver 7s.
Baber said “There is no easy team in the pool, all the teams have prepared well.
“It’s always a tough game against France, Canada will be a changed team in-front of their home crowd while Wales are always unpredictable.”
They take on Wales at 7.37am (FJT) on Sunday, then face Canada at 10.49am (FJT) and battle it out against France at 2.33pm (FJT).
