Vodafone Fijian Under-20 to beef up its preparation

The Vodafone Fijian Under-20 team will beef up its preparation ahead of the Oceania Championship in Gold Coast, Australia later this month.

The Vodafone Fijian Under-20 team will beef up its preparation ahead of the Oceania Championship in Gold Coast, Australia next month.

Elite Pathways Manager, Bill Gadolo says the players have shown a vast improvements since they marched into the camp a month ago.

“This is the teams fifth week in the camp and we had a few of the overseas based players who have come in for the preparations.”

“For the last five weeks we have been building through three days of camps. In the first phase we had players marching in camp on Monday and then play on the Wednesday before being released.”

“But the last two weeks we have been focusing on players coming in on the Wednesdays, straight into the game and then we look at their turn-around time for their next game.”

The Vodafone Fijian Under-20 side will move its camp to the crazy town of rugby in Sigatoka next week.

The camp starts on Wednesday with a game against Nadroga at 4pm at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

Gadolo said they will also have a few session at the famous sand dunes next week.

“We have played five games so far as part of the build-up and we are looking to play Nadroga next week. The team will be in camp from Wednesday in Sigatoka where we will play the Stallions.”

“This is mainly to have match fitness and as part of our on-going selection for the final 33-member extended squad for the Oceania Championship in Australia.”

Meanwhile, Vodafone Fijian Under-20 Coach Kele Leawere will select the final 26-member for the Oceania Champions by the end of next week.

The Vodafone Fijian Under-20 side plays New Zealand in its first game at 7pm on 26th of April then four days later they face Australia at 9pm. They take on Japan final match at 7pm on the 4th of May.
