Vodafone Fiji U20 Ready for U20 Oceania Tournament
The Vodafone Fiji U20 is ready to take up the challenge of winning the 2016 Oceania Rugby U20 Trophy when they face the Cook Islands in their first match on Saturday.
The Salimoni Ravouvou coached side has been preparing for the last couple of months and know that playing in front of their home crowd will be another daunting challenge.
Ravouvou said that the team was ready and have left no stones unturned during their preparations.
“The team is focused and ready for Saturday and we will go into the tournament with the aim to win. We have covered all the areas that needs to be addressed during the training sessions and the players are prepared physically, mentally and spiritually.”
“We would like to encourage all the families to come out in numbers and support the Vodafone Fiji U20 team at their first match this Saturday.”
FRU CEO, Mr John O’Connor once again reminded the players of the challenge that laid ahead.
“With the amount of preparations that you have been through, there should be no excuses for you not to win the tournament and qualify for the 2017 World Rugby U20 Trophy and the 2017 Oceania Rugby U20 Championship.”
“You will have the advantage of the home ground and the home crowd but you will need to remain grounded and focused on the game plan in order to win.”
“I congratulate those that have been selected to represent Fiji in this competition and remind those that have not been selected that the door is still open and to continue with your DTE’s in order to remain in the extended squad.”
“I wish you all the best and god speed for the 2016 Oceania Rugby U20 Trophy.”
The tournament will be played at the ANZ Stadium in Suva from November 26 to December 10 where Fiji will face Tonga and the Cook Islands.
Tickets are currently on sale and can be bought from the Fiji Sports Council.
The Vodafone Fiji U20 will face the Cook Islanders at 3pm on Saturday.
