Update: Vodafone Deans and Weetbix Raluve Semi Finals

Weetbix Raluve – U16 Niusawa Defeats ACS

Raluve semi-finals kickstarted today with Under 16 Niusawa beating Adi Cakobau School in a close match by 22 points to 17. The game was intense, with both players exchanging powerful shots and strategic moves however, in the final moments, the Taveuni-based secondary school team’s agility and quick reflexes made the difference, clinching the victory by just two points. 

Niusawa Team Captain, Sala Uluiqalau stated that the team was happy to have been able to play against a strong ACS team and that they have God to thank for today’s win. She also believes that it was the team’s hard work and sacrifice that enabled their victory today. 

Uluiqalau also showed her appreciation towards all their supporters and parents back home and thanked them for encouraging their team because it was also through their support that they won in today’s game. 

Niusawa now looks forward to next week’s game in hopes of creating history by winning the Raluve Under 16 competition for 2024. 

Vodafone Deans – U15 MBHS overpowers GHS

Marist Brothers High has proven victorious in today’s under 15 semifinals by beating Gospel High School 22 points to 7. 

Marist Brother High School Vice Captain, Senitiki Kuruvakadua shared that playing today’s game was difficult as he had just lost his Father recently to kidney failure. He mentioned that with funeral preparations going on back home, today’s win was a very emotional one. However, even though he had just lost his number one supporter, Senitiki was thankful to God because the win today was only possible because of Him. 

He also mentioned that Gospel High School played a good game and gave them a good run for their money. Senitiki also was very thankful to all the team’s families for all the support rendered to them in the past couple of weeks. 

Marist now looks forward to another good game next week. 

Vodafone Deans – U15 MGM Through to Finals

Under 15 Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School beats Lelean Memorial School 31 points to 10

Underdogs MGM has claimed their spot in next week’s Under 15 Semifinals by beating LMS 31 points to 10. In a high-stakes showdown, MGM, a scrappy underdog, faced off against the powerhouse LMS. MGM outsmarted their rivals with innovative tactics and relentless teamwork despite being outmatched. While LMS relied on brute strength, MGM exploited its weaknesses, seizing a narrow victory. The triumph proved that heart and strategy could outshine raw power.

MGM Team Manager, Miriama Mulo shared that she was very proud of the boys as they had started off in league and have come a long way to win today’s game. Mulo mentioned that the coaching staff has prepared the team well for today’s game as well as next week’s finals and believes that if the boys keep up with what they are doing now, next week’s finals should also prove successful. 

MGM now prepares their team for a good run against next week’s finalists Under 15.
