Tough battle expected in the first Farebrother Challenge
This weekend sees the first challenge of the 2019 Farebrother Trophy as Jetset Nadi challenge reigning title holders Naitasiri.
Naitasiri have been in deep preparations, determined to hold onto the Farebrother Sullivan trophy and prove tat they’re one of the top provincial teams.
Fiji Rugby CEO John O’Connor said it will be an epic game day in this first challenge.
“The Farebrother is rugby’s ultimate pinnacle in the Country and both teams will have their eyes fixed firmly on the trophy come Saturday” he said.
“Nadi has really prepared well for this challenge knowing they’re the first team to play and Naitasiri has prepared at the highest level to secure the prestigious Farebrother Trophy.”
Naitasiri Captain and Fiji Airways Flying Fijians Half Back Frank Lomani emphasized that the Naitasiri team have been preparing very hard towards the Farebrother challenge.
“The boys have been preparing to defend this prestigious trophy” he said.
He added that Naitasiri is desperate not to let the trophy go.
“Farebrother is the highest rugby title in Fiji and the climax of local competition, defending this title is an honour and we’ll definitely be giving our all.”
Naitasiri will be challenged by Nadi this Saturday (29/6/19) at Ratu Cakobau Park, followed by Nadroga then Suva and closing off the Farebrother challenge will be a playoff against the holder of the 2019 Bainimarama shield.
Tickets are $10 at the gate and kick off is at 3pm.
