Thrilling women’s semifinal awaits as Leg 1 progress to day two
It was an entertaining day of rugby, as the 12 women’s teams battled it out for the Cup semifinal in the Fun Flavour Super Sevens Series Leg 1 tournament at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka today.
The girls from Yasawa are the most talked-about team as they forced their way into the Cup semifinal. They will take on a formidable Police side in the first semis at 1.10pm tomorrow.
Mt Masada which consists of the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s players were once again a tough side to beat. They will surely pose a huge threat in the semifinal after thumping Seahawks 71-0, recording day one’s biggest score-line.
The Rusila Nagasau captained side will be up against Striders who defeated an exciting pack from Savusavu in the Cup quarterfinal.
Nagasau said “Despite recording a huge margin in the Cup quarterfinal they still need to improve on some key areas.”
Yasawa team Manager Mereoni Tuinanuya said that they will be going to the drawing board and will try and improve their performance in the semifinal.
She said “We are taking one game at a time. For now, we will go rest and come ready for the big game tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, in the women’s Plate semifinal, Marist faces Lautoka while Savusavu takes on Seahawks. The Plate semifinal starts at 12.30pm.
The Fun Flavour Super Sevens Series Leg 1 men’s competition kicks off at 9am tomorrow.
