The Fiji Under 20s are Fiji’s junior representative team for World Rugby Under-20 competitions. The Vodafone Fijian Under-20 is a critical steppingstone in the development pathway for rugby talent emerging out of school age rugby towards senior representative levels.
The Fijian Under 20s programme is managed through the Fiji Rugby High Performance Unit in close alignment with the Elite Pathway Programme and High Performance Academy.
The current Head Coach is former Flying Fijian Ifereimi Rawaqa.
The team competes in two major tournaments annually, the Oceania Under 20 Championships and World Rugby Junior World Championship. Recently the team competed in the Super Rugby Under-20 New Zealand competition.
The High Performance Unit adopts a diverse approach to talent identification for the Under 20 programme to ensure ample opportunity for discovery is provided on and off island.
Open trials are conducted in the High-Performance epi centres of Viti Levu, plus close attention is paid to the Vodafone FSSRU Deans Trophy. International based eligible players are also able to submit footage and attend trials to maintain touchpoints for those players outside of Fiji.
The Vodafone Fiji team are currently in South Africa for the 2023 Junior World Cup.
Fiji is seeded 11th and will be competing in their ninth tournament at this level having avoided relegation in 2019 thanks to an emphatic win over Scotland in the 11th place play-off.
Vodafone Fijian Under-20 is proudly supported by the Australian Government through Pacific Aus Sports.
