Tailevu team Preview
2019 Skipper Points – 11
Top Try scorer– Simeli Koniferedi (3 tries)
Tailevu secured 1 win over Nadi in round 4 and a draw with Naitasiri in round 7 throughout 2019 Skipper Cup. After losing 5 games last year, Tailevu was sitting on 11 points with Northland and was on the edge of being the second team along with Rewa to be relegated to the Vanua Championship this year. However, Tailevu’s hope of remaining in the 2020 Skipper Cup was rested after Northland was relegated as points different left Tailevu in sixth position while Northland finished off in seventh position. Tailevu Manager Mr Salababa is confident with his team coming into the competition this year as he explained that the boys were motivated to improve from last year’s results, and coming in this year with the aim of qualifying for the finals. They’ve been going through their training program throughout the lockdown period and their YOYO test really proved that fitness was at a spike, and they can’t wait to run into the field in their Skipper opener against Namosi at Thompson Park, Navua.
