Swire Shipping extends Fiji Rugby Sponsorship
The Fiji Rugby Union is delighted to announce that it has extended its partnership with Swire Shipping into a fourth year.
Swire Shipping is a provider of high frequency liner shipping services in the Asia-Pacific markets. Connecting over 400 ports around the world via an extensive network of services in the Asia-Pacific and globally, Swire Shipping is dedicated to facilitating and growing trade in regions where it operates. With an unrelenting commitment to customer service, operational excellence and reliability, Swire Shipping is committed to saving its customers’ time every time, everywhere.
Fiji Rugby Union CEO, John O’Connor said, “Swire Shipping has been an important sponsor of Fiji Rugby since 2017, as both Naming rights partner of the Swire Shipping Fijian Warriors and as a Sponsor of Fiji rugby. We’re thrilled that we’ve been able to further cement our partnership with Swire Shipping until 2022, and that we’ve been able to extend their involvement to the Flying Fijians this year”.
The Swire Shipping brand will feature on the back of the new Flying Fijians jersey when they take on the All Blacks in two tests on July 10th in Dunedin and July 17th in Christchurch. The Flying Fijians jersey will be the first to have been designed and produced by Nike and is sure to turn heads when they run on the field on Saturday.
In addition to the back of jersey branding, Swire Shipping had been offered grass signage at the two tests but has generously given up that branding in favour of the “Vaccinate Fiji” message.
Swire Shipping’s Regional Manager for the Pacific Islands, Alex Pattison said, “We’re pleased to be able to extend our partnership with Fiji Rugby. At Swire Shipping, our purpose is to enrich lives by connecting customers and communities in the Pacific. Fiji is one of our key markets and we are committed to giving back to the Fijian community where we can.
We believe it is important to help spread the vaccination message in current times – and we are more than happy to support this cause, even if it means giving up our grass sign. Hopefully, that message will be brought across to the wider Fijian community as the team plays these historic matches against the All Blacks.”
The Swire Shipping Fijian Warriors will participate in the annual World Rugby Pacific Challenge, which will be rescheduled once travel restrictions ease.
O’Connor added, “I’d like to thank Swire Shipping not only for their continued support of Fiji Rugby, but especially for giving up their grass sign for the All Blacks tests, to promote the Vaccinate Fiji message. It’s so important that we all support the Ministry of Health and Government as we strive to increase the vaccination rate and keep Fijians safe”.
