Smart play is key for Drua in last 3 rounds

The Fiji Airways Fijian Drua travelled to Nadi early this morning to continue on their preparation before departing for Australia on Thursday to take on Canberra Vikings in the fifth round of NRC.

Currently the Drua is at fourth place in NRC standings while the Vikings is at fifth and both teams are tied with 9 points.

The last time the two sides met was in the playoffs last year where the Vikings went down on a 35-28 point game.

Last weekend saw the Drua snatching their first win after round four with 2 draws and 1 loss while the Vikings already secure 2 wins and also lost 2 games.

Drua head coach Senirusi Seruvakula knows momentum will continue to increase and things will get tough going further into the competition.

Seruvakula emphasized that smart play is a strategy he’s embedding to the boys.

“We cannot afford to be giving penalties away as this is gives the other team the opportunity to go for points.”

He added that the boys will need to bring in a lot of physicality into their game and maintain the momentum.

3 rounds are left and Drua will need to be in the top four to qualify for a single-elimination finals bracket consisting of two semi-finals and, ultimately, the final.

Drua takes on Canberra Vikings on Saturday 09/28/19 at Viking Park, Canberra at 12.00pm.
