Sisters want to follow footsteps of brother, Luke Tagi

Fijiana sister Karalaini Naisewa and Keleni Marawa believe they are fortune to be part of the national teams extended member squad preparing for the Rugby World. Even though the Rugby World Cup has been postponed until next year, the two sisters are still hopeful that their dream of making in to the World stage will come true.

Karalaini Naisewa and Keleni Marawa are blessed to have each other in the Fijiana rugby extended squad especially through the tough trainings and sacrifices they aim to follow their brother former Fijian Drua, Fijian Warriors and Flying Fijians prop Luke Tagi in donning the white jersey at the international rugby arena.

“It’s a blessing to train with my big sister with one goal and that is to make the final cut to the Rugby World Cup,” said Naisewa.

“We go through all the struggles and difficulties in training and having her by my side is what keeps me motivated and the strength to go on because we have one common goal and that is to be part of the team to the Rugby World Cup.

Marawa believes that anything is possible through God, hard-work and faith.

“It has been a tough journey through the difficulties you face from home and the struggles during trainings but having my sister with me keeps me moving forward despite all the hardships,” said Marawa.

“It’s a testing ground for my capabilities and how I handle the situations I face and its possible when I put God first and work hard to achieve my goals.

Meanwhile Marawa is confident to work with her sister and accomplish their dreams together especially to be motivated by their brother and Flying Fijian prop Luke Tagi.

“We are also lucky to have our brother helping us and giving us tips and ideas of being a frontrower,” said Marawa.

“He is a role model and an idol for both of us and we want to follow his footsteps to don the national jumper and be part of the team that will be selected for the World Cup.”

Tagi was part of the Flying Fijians extended squad and also part of the Fijian Drua team that won the Australian National Rugby Championship in 2018. He was also part of the Fijian Warriors team.

He is currently playing in France for Stade Francais rugby team.
