Saqanavere named as Vodafone Fiji Under-18s Coach
Fiji Rugby Union has today confirmed the appointment of Master Masi Saqanavere as the Head Coach of the Vodafone National Under 18 School Boys Team.
Saqanavere is a World Rugby Level 3 accredited Coach and joins the High Performance Unit of Fiji Rugby with a vast experience in coaching.
Fiji Rugby Chief Executive John O’Connor confirmed the appointment after the interview process was held last week. There were two other capable applicants who are invloved in Coaching at Provincial level but Master Saqanavere stood out and we also considered that he was a School Teacher.
O’Connor said “We are looking forward to Master Saqanavere joining our panel of coaches and assisting in the development of rugby.”
Master Saqanavere’s first test will be coaching the National Under 18 School Boys Team which will be touring New Zealand at the next of month end.”
Saqanavere is no stranger to Fiji Rugby. He was the manager of the Vodafone Fijian Under-20s to World Junior Championship in Argentina earlier this year.
He has also coached the National Under-16 School Boys Team last year in their tour to Australia and guided the Ratu Kadavulevu Schools Under-15 team to victory in the Vodafone Deans last weekend.
The Vodafone National Under-18 School Boys Team will tour New Zealand to plays New Zealand Maori, New Zealand Barbarians, New Zealand Schools Boys, and Australian Boys from the 26th of September to the 4th of October this year.
