Rewa eyes to upset Farebrother Trophy holders
The first double header round of the Skipper Cup competition between Farebrother Cup holders Nadi and first challenger Rewa is expected to boost this seasons rugby excitement for the teams and spectators.
The Rewa rugby team manager Petero Kaveni is aware of the challenges that lies ahead of them but is confident his boys will deliver accordingly tomorrow.
“This is a battle between two vanua teams and when two teams that hold strong traditional ties meet, it’s epic, especially for the Farebrother,” said Kaveni.
“When Nadi holds on to the Farebrother, it’s theirs and they count it as their possession but we have waited for years to have a go at the silverware and this is our chance.
The Rewa rugby team was one of the two teams that got promoted to the Skipper Cup competition from last year after finishing in the top two spots of the Vanua Championship.
“We tried out luck for the Farebrother trophy two to three years back but were unfortunate but we understand how it feels like to play for the Farebrother and we will give our best shot,” he said.
“We urge our fans to come out in numbers and support your team, the Burebasaga confederacy as a whole, we ask them to come to Prince Charles Park on Saturday and cheer for their team.
Nadi hosts Rewa for the double header clash at the Prince Charles Park tomorrow at 3pm, Northland takes on Naitasiri at Gatward Park in Korovou, Tailevu meets Namosi at Nakelo District School ground and Suva faces Nadroga at the ANZ Stadium.
