Rawaca takes up New Contract in France
The Fiji Rugby Union has today confirmed that Vodafone Fiji 7s player Savenaca Rawaca will not be playing in the 2017 Wellington and Sydney HSBC Sevens 7s Series after he had sought approval from Vodafone Fiji 7s Coach Gareth Baber to be released from Camp today so he can make arrangements to pursue with a professional French Club.
Vodafone Fiji 7s Coach Gareth Baber has confirmed that Rawaca had approached him this morning and sought to be released from the Vodafone Fiji 7s training camp to prepare for his possible departure to undertaken a professional rugby career with a French Club. He, therefore has being released from camp and I would like to thank Rawaca for following due process and seeking the relevant approval.
FRU CEO, Mr John O’Connor also confirmed today that Rawaca has advised FRU that he would like to be released from the Vodafone Fiji 7s Team and from the FRU to pursue his rugby career in France. FRU is assisting Rawaca seek the relevant release from his Club and Province and also ensuring that his Club complies with the release requirements.
The Fiji Rugby Union would like to thank Savenaca Rawaca for his contribution towards the Vodafone Fiji 7s team and more importantly for following due process prior to taking up his contract. We would also like to congratulate him and wish him all the best in his professional career.
