Ravutaumada blessed to visit Taveuni.
FIJI Water Flying Fijians winger, Selestino Ravutaumada was over the moon meeting his own people as the team attended the Sunday service at the Somosomo Methodist Church in Taveuni today.
The 23-year-old has wonderful memories of Taveuni which he will always cherish. The Naselesele lad played in the Under 9 to Under 14 team while schooling in Naselesele Primary and at the Wairiki Primary Schools. He said “It’s a very special moment being here in Taveuni. I went to Naselesele Primary School and then finished off in Wairiki. Joining the FIJI Water Flying Fijians and coming to Taveuni is such a precious moment. I was away for quite long and upon return seeing these kids makes me feel on top of the world as they are always excited to see us. Ravutaumada said it has been an interesting stay with everyone at the Welagi Village Hall. I’m looking forward to being with the boys on the field. We didn’t get an opportunity to know each other before but here we are for a week to mingle around and come out as one to tackle any team against us. I’m looking forward to making a debut for the Flying Fijians and if given that opportunity I will make the most of it and give my best shot” said Ravutaumada. On the other hand, It was the early morning for FIJI Water Flying Fijians after their first night Wairki in Taveuni. Feeling the cool breeze from the sea combined with sleeping on a mattress on the floor reminded many of the players of the usual life in a village. Some players were up early and took a stroll down to the sea bank while others opted to stay indoors and soak into the atmosphere around them. With a quick shower and early breakfast, the FIJI Water Flying Fijians then assembled to travel to Somosomo Methodist Church for their Sunday prayer. Surrounded by fans at the Church, everyone attended the service followed by lunch with the FIJI Water Flying Fijians team. The team then returned and was given a quick 10 minutes to change before they headed for a sea swim recovery. They arrived two hours later, and did logistic work in the team room before heading out for dinner.
