Players developing well says Fijian 7s Coach Ben Gollings

The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team set their focus entirely on their performance and team development going into the Singapore Leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series last weekend.
Fijian 7’s head coach Ben Gollings was impressed with the development of the new players seeing how they have familiarized themselves into the World 7’s Series arena.
Gollings expressed how the boys put in a lot of effort leading up to the HSBC 7s Series, and he added that their performance showed the effort put in by the team.
“We set ourselves out some targets as a team, we worked really had over the last 7 weeks, they put in a lot of effort,” said Gollings.
“We worked together as a group as we focused on team building and development aspect, and I think that really put us in a position to enjoy our rugby both on and off the field,” he added.
Coach Gollings acknowledged the camaraderie in the team after seeing the level of support from the experience players in honing up the new players and the young prospects in the team.
“It’s fantastic that we got the win and that's credit to the players and the way in which they performed, the way in which the experienced players drive the shift and support the inexperience players,” said Gollings.
Most of the new players played their first HSBC World 7s Series last week and impressed coach Gollings and his management showing their energy and their excitement for the game together with their ability to play the game.
“With all these added together it’s quite a weapon,” said Gollings.
Gollings added that the team handled the pressure with ease after they continued to stick to their focus which was to perform on the field and to be consistent.
“There’s always expectation and pressure whenever there's a tournament, last weekend we handled this very well as a squad.”  
“We put the focus on the playing, again this weekend looking at Vancouver, playing in a busy and intense atmosphere, there will be pressure and also the team will have the urge to want to go out and back up that performance, added Gollings.

Gollings emphasized that all sides have the ability to be consistent and carry on with consistency.

“So that is our focus, we will focus on our own performance and it’s consistency not on the pressure,” he said.
“From the managements perspective we’re extremely proud of what the boys have achieved so far,” added Gollings.
