New Laws for National Rugby Championship.

The 2019 National Rugby Championship is set to kick off its first round from 31st August with a few adjustments to its law.

NRC will give a 50:22 kick which allows team a lineout if they’re to kick from their half and find touch in the opponent teams quarter.

This variation will force defending teams to drop wingers back in order to recover the kick, which is aimed at creating space for more attacking play out wide.

The other law variation will be the 5 meters scrum for the attacking teams within the defending teams try line, but NRC will allow defending teams for a goal line dropout which will also relieve the pressure.

Rugby Australia boss Raelene Castle explained that NRC continues to be an important competition for the development of elite Rugby talent and is also a showcase of the best Club Rugby players in Australia.

“The competition will once again be played at suburban and regional venues across the country, giving communities and fans access to more quality Rugby at the conclusion of their club seasons.”

Castle explained how the Fijian Drua always creates Fan interests from how they execute on the field.

“The Fijian Drua will again create massive fan interest for the way they play the game”

He added that while the Drua look to defend the title, “every other team has made moves to strengthen their programs ahead of the 2019 season and we are looking forward to the most competitive NRC season we’ve seen.”

The Fiji Airways Fijian Drua will take on Brisbane City on the first round of NRC on 31st August at GPS Rugby Club, Brisbane.
