Nayacalevu ruled out of RWC2015 after a knee injury
(SUVA) 25 SEPTEMBER – Flying Fijians winger Waisea Nayacalevu has incurred a knee injury and will no longer take part in the RWC2015 tournament.
This was confirmed by the Flying Fijians Head Coach John McKee who said that Nayacalevu sustained a right knee injury on Wednesday (23 September) playing against Australia in Cardiff during a Rugby World Cup pool game.
Nayacalevu who also featured in Fiji’s opening match against England at the Twickenham Stadium in London on Friday 18 September now returns to his French club Stade Francais for further rehabilitation.
Flying Fijians reserve and France based Timoci Nagusa will soon join the Flying Fijians camp in Swansea given Nayacalevu’s departure. Nagusa has been playing wing for French club, Montpelier since 2010.
McKee also confirmed that halfback Nikola Matawalu has had some bruising to his lower back but will be fine and is expected to be available for training and selection. (End/s)
