Naitasiri battles it out against Nasinu in the Royal Tea Ranadi Final
Expect fireworks as the top two Royal Tea Ranadi teams go head-to-head in the Grand Finale at Ratu Cakobau Park on Saturday.
Naitasiri and Nasinu have been promoted to the 2024 ANZ Marama Championship after successfully winning their semi-final games last week. Naitasiri defeated Northland 27-12 in the first Ranadi semi-final before Nasinu edged Lautoka 42-38 in the second play-off. Nasinu Coach Tomasi Katonivualiku said it was a very young squad with players ranging from 14 to 20 years of age. “For a young team, we played our hearts out to get to where we are, I know we still have a long way to go from here,” he said. “We have achieved our target which was to make it to top two and be part of the Marama Competition, and now to win the top spot in the Ranadi Competition.” Katonivualiku added, “This week we will focus on defense, the girls are good in attack and there are just some areas which we will need to improve on.” Naitasiri was relegated from the ANZ Marama Competition last season with Lautoka after finishing in the bottom two. The side finds its way back to the Marama Cup in 2024. Naitasiri and Nasinu face off at 11am at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori. Entry is free for supporters.
