Nadroga vs Suva Womens Match Report
Suva displayed an outstanding performance beating Nadroga 35-14 in the first round of the ANZ Marama Championship at ANZ Stadium.
The capital city side outscored the Mares by five tries to two despite the two teams being tied 14 all halftime break.
Suva’s first try came in the 23rd minute by former high school sprinter and winger Paulini Korowaqa which was converted by outside centre Luisa Tisolo.
Nadroga replied with two consecutive tires from number eight Elenoa Kunabuli.
Just as Nadroga thought they had the game and the first half to themselves, Suva’s Tisolo scored their second try, converted it herself as they drew 14 all at the breather.
In the second spell, Suva twisted its game plan to test the Nadroga defense and they succeeded scoring three more tries.
Tisolo and Korowaqa scored their double in the first quarter of the second half, while fullback Miliakere Vakarewa scored their last try in the 75th minute and sealed the match.
Suva team manager Alisi Komaitai, acknowledged Nadroga for the good game and her girls for overcoming all obstacles to win the first game.
“The girls played well, they played as in our game plan. Our backs and forwards combined very well,” said Komaitai.
“In Next week, we will look into our mauls and tackling areas plus there was a red card today and we will try and improve on that.
Meanwhile in the womens Under-19, Suva outscored Nadroga 19-nil.
