Mobil Sponsors 4th Leg of the Super Sevens Series
Fiji Rugby Union’s (FRU) exclusive fuel provider, Mobil Oil (Fiji) has strengthened its relationship with the FRU and has come on board to sponsor the fourth leg of the Super Sevens Series which will be held on the 12th and 13th of November at ANZ Stadium in Suva.
FRU Chief Executive John O’Connor extended his gratitude to Mobil for believing in the game of rugby despite the current pandemic worldwide.
O’Connor said “With business starting to roll properly after the second wave of COVID-19 hitting Fiji early this year, we at Rugby House are extremely grateful to the team at Mobil for their loyalty and ongoing trust through sponsoring the fourth leg of the Super Sevens Series.”
“Mobil has extended its support of FRU by sponsoring the final leg of the Super Sevens Series. Their kind monetary sponsorship will certainly take away some burden of FRU as we have forked out all expenses for the last three legs of the Super Sevens Series” he said.
Mobil Oil (Fiji) CEO Mr Adi Tamara, said Mobil was very pleased to be able to build on its role as FRU’s exclusive fuel supplier.
“The COVID19 pandemic has challenged us in many ways over the last two years,” said Adi.
“The team at Mobil is proud to support the fourth leg of the Super Sevens Series, an event which will give many people the chance to once again come together to enjoy sport as a community.”
The inaugural season of the Super Sevens Series has generated a lot of interest within the local rugby clubs in both the men’s and women’s category and with the Rugby 7s World Cup and Commonwealth Games scheduled for next year, we are looking forward to hosting the series in a much bigger and better way.
O’Connor highlighted that with Super Sevens Series now added to FRU’s official rugby calendar they will be inviting businesses who are keen to join Fiji Rugby’s healthy group of sponsors by taking the naming right for the series from next year.
“The series has led the platform by becoming one of the major tools supporting our National 7s Men’s and Women’s in preparation and winning the Olympic Gold and Bronze medal consecutively in Japan earlier this year.
Fiji Rugby, therefore, invites businesses and firms who are interested in partnering with the Union in its quest to assist World’s number one team the Fijian 7s, and the Fijiana 7s next year.
We ask interested sponsors to get in touch with our Office through Avnil Pratap avnil.pratap@fijirugby.net or Brian Thorburn” said O’Connor.
Meanwhile, 16 men’s and 12 women’s teams will participate in the fourth leg of the Super Sevens Series next weekend.
“The FRU has been working closely with participating teams with regards to the ‘Terms of Participation’ and the ‘Rules and Regulations, to ensure that the tournament is run smoothly and is compliant with Fiji’s ‘Safe Return to Training and to Play’ protocols,” O’Connor mentioned.
He added that only fully vaccinated Players and Team Officials will be allowed to play.
“All the participating clubs are to submit their vaccinations details, headshots and the names of the team members by the 8th of November to Fiji Rugby’s National Operations Manager Sale Sorovaki either on +679 8903850 or sale.sorovaki@fijirugby.net
The winner of the men’s and women’s category in the 4th leg will each be presented with the trophy.
The Men’s Series Champions will be awarded the inaugural Super 7s Series trophy and $20,000, the second-placed team will get $10,000 while the third-placed team receives $5000.
