Men’s and Women’s 7s Teams for Dubai

The Fiji Rugby Union has today released the names of the Vodafone Fiji 7s and Telecom Fijiana team to the first leg of the 2016/2017 HSBC World 7s Series in Dubai.

The women’s competition starts on 1 December with pool matches and concludes with knock-outs on 2 December, the day the men’s action starts. The men’s competition will conclude on 3 December.

The Telecom Fijiana are in Pool B and face Olympic silver medallists New Zealand, France and Ireland. While the Vodafone Fiji 7s team start their series defence against Canada, Argentina, and Japan in Pool A.

FRU CEO, Mr John O’Connor congratulated the players on their selection and wished them well for the 2016/2017 HSBC World 7s Series.

“Congratulations on your selection into the team for the first leg. You must remember that the Olympics is still fresh in everyone’s mind and there will be a lot of excitement and anticipation from all your fans and that all eyes will be on you to watch your performance. Do not forget the task at hand which is to go out there, win the tournament and make Fiji proud.”

Both teams will present their iTatau on Wednesday the 23rd of November 2016 before they depart our shores for Dubai.

Following the Dubai 7s tournament, the Vodafone Fiji 7s men will proceed to South Africa for the Cape town 7s while the Telecom Fijiana team return home.
