“Particularly in the 1st-half I could see the potential of this group and the players really applied themselves to the Game Plan we have been developing in training.

“The squad will work hard on key aspects of our game tomorrow and Tuesday along with conditioning fitness work and gym training before working on the specifics for the match against Tonga this coming weekend.

“We will take a close look at player’s performance in training before selecting the team for the next match.

“Expect some rotational changes as we work on balancing game time for all squad members and heavy training cycles for those players not selected in the Match Day 23,” McKee said.

The Vodafone Flying Fijians will face the “Ikale Tahi” team (Tonga) in their first Pacific Nations Cup match at 3.00pm on Saturday 18 July at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

The team then travels to the USA to play Samoa on Friday 24 July and onto Canada where they play Japan on Wednesday 29 July.
