LOCAL STARS TO LINE UP FOR SPIRIT IN FIJI

The Road Safety Perth Spirit have named their side to take on the Fijian Drua in Suva on Saturday afternoon with a host of Pindan Premier Grade stars included in the line-up for the top of the table clash.

The Spirit have made a number of changes from the side that took down the Greater Sydney Rams last weekend.

In the front row, Wests Scarborough teammates Sama Malolo and Baxter King will run on for their first starts of the season after impressing off the bench in the opening rounds.

Joondalup Brothers’ playmaker, Sheldon Tarawa, comes back into the starting side for the second time this season and will look to take the Drua defence on when he runs on at inside centre.

Future Force Foundation fullback Brendan Owen comes into the starting XV at fullback after scoring his maiden NRC try last week while Australian U20 representative Clay Uyen will again start on the right wing after an outstanding debut last weekend.

In the reserves, hooker Logan Ede (Nedlands), scrumhalf Michael McDonald (Palmyra) and outside back Hamish Buick (Kalamunda) are all in line to make their NRC debuts while Cottesloe prop Kaisa Reidy will pull on the black and gold jersey for the first time since 2014.

The Spirit will take on the competition newcomers in Suva at 1:00PM AWST on Saturday, 23 September with the match to be broadcast live on Fox Sports.
