HPU Elite Referee Tevita Rokovereni
Fiji Rugby Union’s High Performance panelist and Elite Referee Tevita Rokovereni has been appointed by World Rugby to officiate as an Assistant Referee at the 2015/2016 HSBC 7s Series in Wellington.
Rokovereni has officiated in World Rugby tournaments including the World Rugby Junior Trophy in Portugal earlier this year and the recent Oceania 7s tournament, but this will be his first appointment for the 7s series.
Rokovereni said that this was a huge boost in his career as a referee and one that he had been working towards since he began his career as a match official eight years ago.
“Being appointed by World Rugby to officiate at the Wellington 7s is a huge opportunity for me. I have always dreamed of this opportunity and with this dream comes hard work and sacrifices that I have had to make.”
“I thank World Rugby for this opportunity as this is a recognition towards my ability of being able to officiate alongside some of the world renowned referees.”
The 26 year old Tailevu native took up refereeing in 2006 and apart from officiating at local tournaments, he has also officiated at the Pacific Mini Games in 2013 and the Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea earlier this year.
