Hard work and sheer determination pays off for Kunatani
Fiji Airways Flying Fijians flanker Semi Kunatani knows that the right mindset is key to determine anything you’re opting to achieve.
Kunatani is amongst the 32 Fiji Airways Flying Fijians World Cup squad and he’s been working hard for a spot for the past few months.
“I had to pull up my training and needed to put in extra work and I have to say being named in the Flying Fijian world cup squad is the progress.”
Being in the final squad he knows that momentum will keep on increasing as they approach the RWC.
“The boys are shaping up really well, the energy in the team is really high and the competition for positions is really pushing us to work even harder,” he added.
Kunatani was part of Fiji team that won gold at the Olympics and later went to play club rugby in France before moving to Harlequins ahead of the 2018/19 season.
This will be he’s first Rugby World Cup and the 28 year old will be expecting a tough competition ahead of the RWC and he knows that a they must bring up their A game.
“I think we still need to improve on a few areas in training and we need to polish it up and continue with the level of work we’re at ahead of this WC.”
With the World Title on the line every team will compete with the same level of intensity all eying the pinnacle of Rugby in the World.
Our Fiji Airways Flying Fijians open their World Cup preparation on the Pacific Test match against the Maori All Blacks which got them to a good start.
The 3 matches in the PNC also tested McKee’s structures against the other tough opponents Samoa, Japan and Canada.
McKee named his WC 31 squad with a mixture of experience players with some lethal combinations.
Fiji’s final warm up match will be against Tonga on the 31st of August at Eden Park in New Zealand and Semi sees this match as a “good build up towards the world cup where we can test our game plays and amend areas that needs to be polished.”
Fiji will open the 2019 RWC in Japan against Australia on the 30 of September at Oita Stadium 4.05pm.
