Glasgow is home away from home for Nakarawa
Leone Nakarawa is happy with his move to the Glasgow Warriors this season as he’ll be rejoining his old club after his contract was terminated from Racing 92.
Nakarawa started his professional career at Glasgow back in 2013 and he said that he feel at home upon returning this year.
“Glasgow is my home, this is where my professional career started, I feel welcome around the Club, I feel like the boys are happy and some of my friends are happy.”
Nakarawa said that the club has always been in his heart, as it introduced him to the professional rugby world.
Even thou there were many other offers coming in from other clubs after the ongoing issue with his former club Racing 92, Naks opted for Glasgow saying that it played a major role in his career.
“I had a lot of options from other clubs but I thought about it, nobody knew about me in 2013 but when Glasgow approach me to come, so Glasgow play a major role in my professional career.”
“That’s why I always cheer for Glasgow every time, when I get a week off, I always come back and cheer on the boys.”
He is also grateful for the three other Fijian brothers in the club (Nikola Matawalu, Mesu Dolokoto, Jale Vakaloloma) saying how important it is to share experience and spend time together while they’re away from home.
“It’s nice having them around, Fiji is far from Europe so having them around is quite good for us, we can share each other’s experience and we can still see each other and spend time together.”
“I feel relaxed and most importantly helping each other because Mesu and Jale are still young, so it’ll be good in improving our national team in Fiji, what they learn from here.”
