Flying Fijians ready for Pasifika Challenge match against Tonga.
Fiji Airways Flying Fijians coach John McKee believes all hard work has been done and the team is ready to face Tonga in the Pasifika Challenge at Eden Park on Saturday.
McKee says they have been working on getting the right combinations and will also test it against Tonga before the Rugby World Cup next month.
He said “We have done more typical test match training against Tonga.
The objective is to getting the boys all the work they need to do and be fresh for the game on Saturday.”
“We are focused on the game plan for the all-important match against the Wallabies on September 21st” McKee said.
McKee is expected to name his best squad for the match against Tonga, which could be a shadow team for the match against Australia in the 2019 RWC in Japan.
He highlighted the Tongan’s will come prepared and throw their all to beat Flying Fijians on Saturday.
McKee added “A weeks camp in Nadi has been very productive as the team worked on a few areas need to be improved.
“We have been working on a few areas such as our kicking and contact ruck area.
“We think the team will try and slow the ball in that areas so need to be very effective after our ball carries or when we tackle to make sure we can clean the ruck areas and get the ball.”
McKee said there is no injury concerns in the team and the players are ready to take on the field tomorrow.
“Im happy with their fitness plus the team is injury free.
“We have worked hard in the first block and it was pleasing to do some testing when they came into training after four days off.”
The Fiji Airways Flying Fijians take on Tonga at 4.30pm {FJT} at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand this Saturday.
