Flying Fijians ready for challenge against Wales

The Flying Fijians are determined to finish their Rugby World Cup pool stages on a high as they finalise preparations for their match against Wales at Oita Stadium, this Wednesday.

Head Coach John McKee has made just one change to the run on team that dominated Georgia 45 – 10 in Osaka last week, with Viliame Mata coming in to number eight moving Peceli Yato to the bench.

Off the back of their strong performance last against Georgia, McKee says the team are looking to build and step up again when they meet the current 6 Nations Champions.

“We see this final pool game as both a challenge and an opportunity, it is important to finish the pool stage on a high note” he said.

“We carry some confidence and momentum from the Georgia match and at the same time know we must step up in performance in this match as it will be of a higher intensity” He added “Wales present a big challenge to us as they are the current 6 Nations Champions and recently held the World Rugby No 1 ranking and we can see the strengths across their squad.”

“They have a very good defensive system and work rate so we know we will need to work hard to create scoring opportunities for ourselves” he commented.

The Flying Fijians face Wales in their final pool match at 9.45pm, Wednesday 9 October at Oita Stadium.
