Fijiana make it two from two

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 15s made it clear that their round one win was no fluke in a dominating and dictating demonstration of attacking rugby against the Palais.

Fiji scored their first points of the afternoon in the 3rd minute of the match and didn’t look back.

With a number of line breaking runs, the Fiji forwards set up many of the 9 first half tries which saw Lelani Burns and Makereta Tunidau crossing the chalk.

Fijiana led into the break leading 53-0.

The second half didn’t provide any relief for the Papua New Guinea Palais with Fiji adding another 8 tries to their tally.

The Palais struggled all match and were unable to break through to create space and get the ball into the hands of their fast wingers as they did so well in the first round.

Palais Captain Debbie Kaore, Palais captain said she was happy with the effort the girls had put in.

“We struggled with trying to get our set pieces right and the Fiji girls were too strong for us today,” she said.
Fiji Airways Fijiana Captain Rusila Nagasau had nothing but pride when talking about her team’s effort today saying,

“I just really want to thank the team and thank the coach. Last week we went back and had our blackboard session and there were just a few things that we needed to work on, especially in the forwards. I think we did that well today and most of the ball went to the forwards as they scared the most tries today,” Nagasau said.
