Fijiana gears up for Australian tour
The Fiji Airways Fijiana are gearing up for a tough two match tour against the NSW Waratahs and Queensland Reds Super W teams in Australia this month.
Head Coach Alifereti Doviverata has maintained the core of his players who helped the side qualify for the 2021 Rugby World Cup in September last year and says the team is in good shape for the upcoming tour.
“The girls have been working hard in their DTE’s for the last six weeks at the different centers and our trainer has been monitoring their progress”.
Doviverata is expecting a mouth-watering battle against the two top Australian teams who finished in top of the Super W last year.
“These two teams have played in the final of the Buildcorp Super W in Australia.
“Waratahs are the defending champions and Reds the finalists, I have reminded the girls it will not be easy for us” he said.
Fijiana stalwarts skipper Sereima Leweniqila, Lailanie Burns, Rusila Nagasau, Lavenia Tinai and Priscilla Siata are expected to guide the side during the tour.
“We will have to work hard from where we left off in November during the Rugby World Cup qualifiers.
“I told them we are going as a national team and we need to play as national players” said Doviverata.
The Fiji Airways Fijiana take on the Queensland Reds at 5pm on Sunday 16th February and then battle NSW Waratahs at 7.30pm Friday 21st.
