Fijiana Development Coast to back to back titles.

The Fijiana Development team won back to back 2020 Coral Coast 7s Na Iri titles at Lawaqa Park yesterday after proving too strong for a courageous Nadi Aviators team 24-7.

Consistent growth in the team’s performances across the tournament led them to securing the title for the 2nd year.

With four new faces into the squad including members of the Fijian Under-18 team, the side combined well to display some exciting sevens rugby.

Fijiana Development Captain Lavenia Tinai said that team work and consistency were the key to the young team’s achievement.

“The new girls blended in quite well and we executed pretty well on the field as a team” she said.

“Heading into the Coral Coast Sevens the players had a standard in which they had to follow through and set the platform for the upcoming players.”

With a week to go before the Hamilton 7s, Tinai said the team were well prepared and looking forward to the challenge, with the new format.

The Coral Coast 7s continue today with the men’s finals.
