Fijian Drua hooker cited for alleged bite
Fijian Drua hooker Samu Suguturaga has been cited for an alleged bite on Brisbane City hooker and skipper Andrew Ready in their NRC match at Ballymore on Saturday.
Suguturaga will face a NRC judicial hearing on Tuesday night at the QRU offices in Brisbane and the matter will be overseen by judicial officer Paul Tully.
Ready accused the Fijian hooker of biting him on the ear in a scrum in the 29th minute of the first term and followed that up in post-match interviews.
Ready reported the incident to the on-field referee immediately.
“The hooker turned and bit my ear, as the pressure went on and there is a clear bite mark,” Ready told RUGBY.com.au.
“It’s lucky he was wearing a mouthguard, otherwise he would have had the whole thing.”
The Drura lost their first foray into NRC competition 36-45.
