FIJI Water Flying Fijians settle in Pornic.

FIJI Water Flying Fijians have settled well at their team base camp in Pornic, France ahead of the test match against the Les Bleus on Sunday.

Head Coach Simon Raiwalui said they received a warm welcome from the fans in Pornic during their first training run on Sunday morning.

After four days of traveling in two different groups, the whole team gathered and had their full training run today.

Raiwalui said “We really had a good run today and the boys are in good form. Obviously, it has been a big traveling week for Flying Fijians but it’s always great to come together and prepare for the test match on Sunday.”

He further added that the coaches have planned the week in such a way that the Flying Fijians will be ready to take on the French this weekend.

“It will be a specific week in terms of our preparation but we are really happy with the way we have been performing,” said Raiwalui.

The town of Pornic, which is around four hour’s train ride from Paris has been catching a lot of attention. The Fijian flags have been flying high everywhere and the fans have welcomed the FIJI Water Flying Fijians with open hands.

Raiwalui said “It is a great little town and I think France is unique in terms of their connection with the Fijians as we have a lot of Fijian players playing in different clubs around France. We had a lot of interest from the public and the boys were very happy to see the France-based Fijian fans.”

FIJI Water Flying Fijians versus France match is expected to be a mouth-watering battle as both teams will be taking a physical approach in order to win the game.

“It’s a huge game for us as France have been playing really good rugby and while World Cup is at home there is a lot of interest in rugby here and in the French team who are always a tough opponent to beat,” said Raiwalui.

FIJI Water Flying Fijians face France at 7am on Sunday.
