Fiji Rugby Statement: Appointment of Rovereto Nayacalevu as Chief Executive Officer

Fiji Rugby is pleased to announce the appointment of Rovereto Nayacalevu as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization. The Fiji Rugby Board of Trustees believes that Mr. Nayacalevu is the ideal choice for this pivotal role, given his extensive experience and commendable contributions to the country in both the Government and Commercial sectors.

Rovereto Nayacalevu brings a wealth of experience to Fiji Rugby, having most recently served as the Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Fisheries and Forestry and PS for the Ministry of Youth and Sports. In these roles, he successfully led over 100 civil servants, demonstrating exemplary strategic and organizational leadership. His ability to map and pave the way forward for these organizations to meet its goals and objectives has been consistently proven.

In addition to his distinguished Government service, Mr. Nayacalevu has held various leadership roles in the commercial sector across Fiji and the Pacific, particularly in the Solomon Islands and Samoa. His expertise spans Sales, Operations, Procurement, and Logistics, showcasing his versatile leadership skills. Strengthening his extensive practical experience, Mr. Nayacalevu holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of the South Pacific.

An ardent supporter of rugby in Fiji, Mr. Nayacalevu also has a rich history with the sport, having played the game at 15s and 7s Provincial level. His deep connection to rugby, combined with his professional qualifications and leadership experience, positions him uniquely to lead Fiji Rugby into a promising future.

Mr. Nayacalevu takes over from Mr. Simione Valenitabua, who has worked tirelessly with the Board of Trustees to steer the organization towards positive change. Mr. Valenitabua’s dedication and efforts have laid a strong foundation within Rugby House, and Mr. Nayacalevu is committed to building upon this legacy to achieve further success for Fiji Rugby and the broader rugby community in the country.
