Fiji Rugby Announces Exciting Test Matches for Vodafone Fijiana 15’s

Fiji Rugby is thrilled to announce a series of exciting developments for the Vodafone Fijiana 15’s team, marking significant milestones in the growth and promotion of women’s rugby in Fiji and beyond.  

Firstly, we are delighted to confirm two highly anticipated test matches between the Vodafone Fijiana 15’s team and Japan. These matches represent not only a thrilling sporting spectacle but also a platform to showcase the exceptional talent and skill of our players to our local fan base. 

Furthermore, Fiji Rugby proudly announces the participation of the Vodafone Fijiana 15’s team in the prestigious Oceania Rugby Women’s Championship, the pinnacle premier women’s rugby competition in the region. Since its inception in 2016, this championship has been instrumental in fostering the growth and development of women’s rugby across Oceania.  

The 2024 edition of the Oceania Rugby Women’s Championship will feature National Women’s teams from Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, and Tonga. This exciting competition will take place over three match days on May 24th, May 29th, and June 2nd, in Brisbane.  

As part of our commitment to advancing women’s rugby in Fiji, we are thrilled to announce that the test matches against Japan will be the first home test matches of 2024, both for the women’s and men’s teams. These matches hold special significance as the last test in Fiji was against Canada in 2022. 

Moreover, Fiji Rugby has demonstrated its dedication to the development of women’s rugby by investing in players through 12-month contracts. This investment reflects our commitment to providing our athletes with the support and resources they need to thrive and succeed in their sporting endeavors.  

In addition, the Vodafone Fijiana 15’s team is set to play a record number of tests in a year, with 10 matches scheduled, highlighting the growing demand and recognition for women’s rugby globally.  

As we prepare for these exciting fixtures, Fiji Rugby acknowledges the invaluable support of our sponsor, Vodafone. However, we recognize the need for additional sponsors to ensure that our team is adequately prepared for the upcoming tests. Furthermore, Fiji Rugby is pleased to announce the confirmed dates and venues for the upcoming test matches:  

• 14th June: Suva – 6 pm  
• 20th June: Lautoka – 6 pm  

Ticket prices for these matches are set at $15 for Grandstand seating and $5 for grass seating, with children under 12 enjoying free admission.
