Fiji Airways Drua starts preparation for NRC
Fiji Airways Fijian Drua has hit the ground running as they look forward to making a super start in the National Rugby Championship this month end.
Drua Coach Senirusi Seruvakula has named a 33-member extended squad which moved into camp on Tuesday.
Seruvakula said “The team is made up for players who were very consistent during the Skipper Cup and Farebrother Challenge.”
He added “We have not only picked up players from major unions but we also picked players from Vodafone Vanua Cup.”
Seruvakula said it’s not going to be an easy ride this season.
“We understand its going to be a tough season as we will be defending the National Rugby Championship title.There will be a lot of learnings for this new players coming into the team.”
Seruvakula said the players will go through intense training to get match fitness and right combinations before their first game against Brisbane City.
“This week is going to be a tough week, as we all know that it’s only two weeks to prepare before the first game” said Seruvakula.
He added “The Coaching staff and the management have to work hard for next two weeks to keep everyone into good shape before we go to Brisbane to play our first game.”
The Fiji Airways Fijian Drua defeated Queensland 36-26 to claim its first ever NRC title at Churchill Park in Lautoka last year.
The Fijian Drua opens its 2019 NRC campaign against Brisbane City at 5pm in Brisbane, Australia on the 31st of this month.
