Fiji 7s Head Coach Post to be advertised

The Fiji Rugby Union has today confirmed that after discussions with Coach Ben Ryan, that the position of Fiji 7s Head Coach will be advertised.

This was confirmed by Fiji Rugby Union CEO, Mr John O’Connor.

Mr O’Connor said that the Fiji Rugby Union Board would have been most glad to renew his contract but they had to respect his decision.

“On behalf of the Fiji Rugby Union Chairman and Board of Directors I would like to extend our appreciation for what Ryan has done for the National 7s Team. The discussions with Ben indicates his desire to take a break from rugby by returning home to England and to explore options for his future undertaking. The FRU Board respects this decision by Ryan and wishes him well in his future endeavours.”

“The position of Fiji 7s Head Coach will soon be advertised with an appointment to be made well before the commencement of the 2016/2017 HSBC World 7s Series. Ryan is most welcome to reapply for the position should he have a change of heart.”

“We would like to wish Ben and his wife Natalie safe travels as they depart our shores to return to their home in England.”

The position is expected to be advertised by next week after the expiry of Coach Ryan current contract.

Mr. O’Connor has also confirmed that the position of the Head Coach for the Women Rugby including the National 7s and 15s Teams will also be advertised since Chris Cracknel has advised FRU that he wants to move on to new Challenges.
