Community outreach program by FIJI Water Flying Fijians

FIJI Water Flying Fijians wrapped up a week’s training with a community outreach program near the base camp in Welagi, Taveuni today.

 

The players part of the FIJI Water Flying Fijians extended squad including Fiji Rugby Union Administrator Simione Valenitabua planted some coconut palms on the sea banks as a remembrance of the visit this year..

 

Village Headman Daniele Tagane said that the players were been supplied with coconuts to drink after each training session since Sunday.

 

“The manager of the FIJI Water Flying Fijians requested us if we can supply a few of the planting materials just to acknowledge everyone who has supported the side for the past week” he said.

 

Tagane added “These trees which will grow would always remind the people of Taveuni that the FIJI Water Flying Fijians were based here ahead of the Rugby World Cup in 2023.”

 

He further added that we are so fortunate to host the national team and I’m glad this camp was a successful one.

 

“First, I must thank the FIJI Water Flying Fijian Head Coach Simon Raiwalui and his management for deciding to come here, the players for being so friendly to the fans, and the villagers for providing the support in whatever way possible” he said.

 

The team departs for Nadi tomorrow and will be based there for the rest of the period before facing Tonga in their first June Test Series on the 22nd of this month at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
