Botitu thanks his father and eyes Olympic Games next year.
Sevens hottest product Vilimoni Botitu has no intension of moving overseas or switching to 15’s after a scintillating form in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series this season.
The 20-year-old made his debut at the Dubai 7s and said he wants to represent the Fijian 7s side at the Olympic Games in Japan next year.
“I’m really looking forward to the Olympic Games. This is what we’ve all been looking forward to and if I make it to the Olympics I will give all my best and full potential to secure a gold medal for the country.”
The former Fijian Under-20 rep played a vital role for the side this season.
He was named DHL impact player of the year plus was the player of the final in Cape Town 7s, made his cut into the Hamilton and Singapore 7s dream teams.
The Nadi native said his dad has played a major part in his successful rugby career.
“My Father usually motivates me a lot. Whenever I am upset my dad is always there for me, encouraging me and uplifting my spirit not to give up.
I made it into the way to the 7s side as he always pushed me through and kept on telling me not to give up.”
He added “I want to thank the lord for his protection and guidance throughout the series, without him I wouldn’t have achieve all this.”
Botitu has played 56 matches this year, scored 202 points and 26 tires since Dubai 7s.
