25 coaches undergoing World Rugby Level 2 Sevens course
A total of 25 coaches have started their World Rugby Level 2 Sevens coaching course after completing their Level One course.
Fiji Rugby Union Development Manager Koli Sewabu said that these coaches will be tested throughout Fiji’s top 7s competition as part of their accreditation process.
“25 coaches have started their Coaching 7s Level 2 journey, and the Fiji Rugby 7s Series and other major 7s tournaments like Uprising, Nawaka and Marist are used as the platform for their accreditation process,” said Sewabu.
As part of the Level 2 course, these coaches will be introduced to high-performance analysis technology as a means of developing their understanding of specific body components of the players.
“Several professional development opportunities have also been provided for them such as using the Hudl video analysis tool,” said Sewabu.
Sewabu emphasized how crucial it is for these coaches to understand the body component of an athlete, saying that this is a topic which they’ll be focusing on throughout their Level 2 course.
“Through the conditioning for 7s program run by our Head S&C Trainer Naca Cawanibuka, it will help develop these coaches understanding on this specific topic which is an important aspect of the game,” said Sewabu.
Sewabu has also thanked the assistance coming in from World Rugby Master trainer Talemo Waqa as well as Fijian 7s head coach Gareth Baber.
“There’s also been extra assistance from WR Master Trainer Talemo Waqa and Fiji 7s HC Gareth Baber, which has really boosted the coaches learning and development,” added Sewabu.
With all the support from Fiji Rugby educators and master trainers as well as our National 7s coach, it has all complemented the first-ever level 2 sevens coaching course for participating coaches in order to complete their accreditation process before the start of the 15s domestic season.
