Latui hone up key areas

Things are up to par for Fijian Latui as they draw closer to kick off Season 1 of Global Rapid Rugby with just a week to go.

Head Coach Senirusi Seruvakula is impressed with the progress in camp in the past 3 weeks.

As usual, all areas of their game needs to be up at a stage he want and so far it seems that things are falling in to place for the team.

The team went through a dynamic learning process in the past 3 weeks, as they evaluate the clarity of rugby and learn core elements of their play(structure), Seruvakula knows that these are key areas the boys needs to familiarise them with.

“We’ve dig in to the clarity of rugby so the boys firmiliarize themselves with our system of play, and i’ve been witnessing a lot of improvements.”

The style of play in Rapid Rugby is something the team are also taking in to account during their off season preparation.

Knowing how rapid and swift the plays will be, they’ve been under the clock working on their stamina and keeping their composer while under pressure.

Seruvakula added that the team have a target coming in to this campaign, with China Lions in their opener coach added that first thing for the team is “trying to get the result we want from our first match, right now that is our focus.”

“In order to accomplish this we have to be secured in all our areas of play and thats what we’ve been working on, we’ve learn a lot in this 3 weeks.”

Somehow the amount of work put in by individual players makes selection a bit difficult for coach Seruvakula.

“So far i’m really impress with the level we’re at and the amount of work put in from all individual players, and looking at the squad with lot of talents, lots of upcoming and experience players it makes it tough for me to select the lineup for our opener.”

Looking at a squad with a mixture of experience and upcoming talents it also brings in a lot of depth to the team.

coach explained that the bond in the team is looking good seeing how the experience players are helping develop the young ones.

The boys break camp last week Friday as they spend the weekends at home before they’re back in camp this week to touch base and brush up on all areas of their game.

Fijian Latui faces China Lions on Saturday  14 March at 6.15pm in a double header as the Fijian Warriors takes on JNR Japan at 3.30pm at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.

Tickets are $10 for the grandstand, $5 for embankment and $2 for children under 12.
