Churchill Park to host Super Saturday of live rugby.

This weekend’s Super Saturday rugby festival at Churchill Park is set to be one for the history books as the Sugar City plays host to a monster double header of Fiji / Aussie rugby rivalry.

The Fiji Airways Fijian Drua meet Sydney Rays in round four of the National Rugby Championship with Senirusi Seruvakula’s side hunting invaluable points to remain in finals contention.

Churchill Park has become the spiritual home for the Drua, who played some of the most exciting and thrilling rugby in front of thousands of parochial fans across their 2018 championship winning season and the team will be looking to the locals for that same support this Saturday.

The Drua match kicks off at 2pm with gates open from midday for the Super Saturday festival.

In addition to the on field NRC action, Saturday is also the opening match for the Flying Fijians Rugby World Cup campaign, where they take on Australia at 4.45pm.

To share the celebration of rugby in Japan with the fans at home, Fiji Rugby in conjunction with Fiji TV, Wailesi, Tech Front Australia, Swire Shipping and the Lautoka City Council will be installing a free live viewing site inside Churchill Park.

A 40 square metre monster screen will air the Flying Fijian matches against Australia, Georgia and Wales plus the entire final series.

This Super Saturday’s launch of the live site will include plenty of family fun with bouncy castles for the kids, additional food stalls, bars, entertainment, merchandise and of course, the most important feature – the rugby.

Gates open at midday for the 2pm Drua v Sydney match, with tickets $10 for grandstand and $5 embankment, then free entry from 3.30pm for the Flying Fijians v Australia.

The public will be invited to limited seating with BYO picnic rugs and mats on the athletics track however, no access to the rugby pitch for seating due to the FIFA Oceania Olympic qualifiers to be played from Sunday.
