Railumu Sisters Unite in the Vodafone Fijiana XV for the First Time

A heartwarming moment for the Vodafone Fijiana XV team, sisters Setaita Railumu and Adi Salaseini Railumu will take the field together for the first time in the white jersey.

Setaita, the older of the two, has been a mainstay of the Vodafone Fijiana XV squad since 2022, also representing the Fijiana Drua team.

Her younger sister, Adi Salaseini, now steps up to the international stage, making her debut as part of the national team.

For the Railumu family, this moment is a dream come true.

Setaita said she was proud of her little sister for the sacrifices during training.

“When I heard the manager announce the names, and then my sister’s name, I started bawling my eyes out! I am so happy to be flying the Fijian flag with my sister. It’s a dream come true for our parents who have always supported us since we started playing rugby.”

Adi Salaseini said, “We both played rugby together in 2019 and won the Women’s Skipper Cup for Tailevu. Then we both joined the extended national squad in 2021, but it was Setaita who made it to the national team and the Fijiana Drua. Now, I’m excited to join her.”

The younger Railumu sister has her sights set on making an impact in her first test match.

“I’ve always watched how Setaita played, and whenever her team won, our family was so proud. I want to bring that same joy to our family by helping our team secure a win.”

Both the sisters are excited to head to Scotland for their first test match on Sunday, 15th September.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 3:45 am (FJT) at the Hive Stadium.

Following this, the Vodafone Fijiana XV will embark on another groundbreaking journey as they travel to the Netherlands for their first-ever match against the Orange Ladies.

This highly anticipated fixture will take place on Thursday, 19th September, at the NRCA Stadium in Amsterdam

Later on, The Vodafone Fijiana XV will face tough competition at WXV3 with matches against Hong Kong China, Samoa, and Spain.

The WXV3 tournament kicks off on the 27th of September.
